As you may recall, the DuPage Water Commission/City of Chicago have passed water rate increases totaling 129% to all of their customers including the Village of Bensenville. These increases took effect beginning January 1, 2012 and each subsequent January with the final increase scheduled for January 1, 2015. Before passing these rate increases onto the residents the Village commissioned a water rate study, conducted by an independent company, to help determine the lowest rate the Village could charge and maintain the required fund balances needed to maintain sound fiscal practices and our AA- bond ratings. Unfortunately, because of the significant water rate increases of 129% charged by the DuPage Water Commission/City of Chicago, we are forced to increase our utility rate by 15% and that increase will go into effect on your August 1, 2014 utility bill for service in the month of July...
